About
Southern Food Lab began as a YouTube channel dedicated to sharing the rich traditions of Southern cooking through culinary education. While creating content about cooking techniques and recipes, I recognized a deeper calling: the desire to directly share high-quality food and fresh produce with people in my community.
This realization led to the establishment of SFL Farm, a natural evolution of our mission to connect people with their food. The farm emerged from understanding that truly exceptional Southern cooking starts with outstanding ingredients. In our community, like many others, access to locally grown, high-quality produce isn’t just about convenience – it’s about maintaining our cultural food traditions and ensuring food security.
Our journey from digital education to hands-in-the-soil farming reflects our commitment to both growing exceptional produce and teaching others to do the same. We believe that knowing how to grow and cook your own food is an essential life skill that builds stronger, more resilient communities. Through both Southern Food Lab’s educational content and SFL Farm’s agricultural practices, we continue to serve as a resource for those seeking to deepen their connection to food – from seed to plate.
Today, we combine our passions for farming, cooking, and teaching to create a unique approach to local agriculture. Whether it’s through our farm-fresh produce, value-added products, or ongoing educational efforts, we remain committed to nurturing both the land and our community’s relationship with food.
